UC Davis Health seeks nominations and applicants for a new executive position that recognizes the increased importance of the ambulatory clinical enterprise. The Chief Operating Officer, Ambulatory Services will report directly to the Vice Chancellor for Human Health Sciences and Chief Executive Officer, UC Davis Health and be responsible for providing clinical and strategic leadership to a rapidly growing ambulatory network that is part of a progressive integrated health system. The position will ensure seamless, integrated care with the intent of executing the quadruple aim of high-quality care, high patient satisfaction, high caregiver morale, and low cost in ambulatory clinical operations of the physician group.
Ambulatory Services will be the key driver for growth and further evolution for UC Davis Health. Today, the ambulatory operation sees over 900,000 plus visits annually, offering top caliber primary and specialty care. In addition to growth through additional sites, significant expansion and enhancement is planned over the next 18 months for several existing locations which will bring additional UC Davis Health services and clinicians to the communities it serves.
UC Davis Health was recently ranked in the top 10 nationally by Vizient for the outstanding quality of its ambulatory care in outpatient clinics and emergency department. The Vizient Ambulatory Care Quality and Accountability Awards measure the quality of outpatient care in five areas: access to care, capacity and throughput, quality and efficiency, continuum of care, and equity.
Skills and/or experience necessary to perform this position:
An MBA/MHA is required.
A minimum of five years of experience in a significant management position is required.
Excellent communication skills, experience dealing with complex issues, an understanding of physician revenue cycle management, financial accounting, and operations are required.
Ability to lead by influence with an unwavering commitment to patient-centered care.
Strong experience developing and implementing operating plans, and analyzing financial and quality data are required.
Prior experience in telemedicine and/or mobile healthcare delivery is preferred.
An MD/DO degree is preferred. Board Certification in a medical specialty with a minimum of 7 years’ experience as a physician leader/executive, preferably in a medium or larger size health system or academic health center is also preferred.
