Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for maintaining certification in sterile processing and current knowledge of job role parameters
Sterile Processing Technician has the responsibility of maintaining cleaning and sterilization processes for all surgical instrumentation, reusables, equipment, and supplies for the Center
Sterile Processing Technician will oversee operations and maintenance of the washers, sterilizers, and documentation of equipment cycles
Sterile Processing Technician will maintain manufacturer guidelines on site for equipment and will be aware of manufacturer recommendations for operations, cleaning, and maintenance, etc.
Sterile Processing Technician will maintain proper record keeping for all sterilization, biological and decontamination processes in the Center
Sterile Processing Technician will receive soiled instruments into Decontamination area and promptly process same
Sterile Processing Technician will ensure proper Preventative Maintenance is performed
Sterile Processing Technician will interact with maintenance personnel when necessary to ensure their service is provided in a timely fashion if equipment is taken out of service
Sterile Processing Technician will work in both soiled and clean utility rooms using proper personal protection equipment as directed in the policy and procedure manual
Sterile Processing Technician will stock the store room with supplies when needed and rotates stock, checks dates and ensures proper storage of these supplies
Sterile Processing Technician will assist in the picking of cases for the day when needed
Qualifications
High school graduate or GED required.
Understanding of sterilization and high-level disinfection technologies including industry standardized principles and practice in sterilization and disinfection required.
Prior experience in instrument processing preferred.
Prior experience as a surgical technologist/procedure technologist preferred.
Successful completion of BCLS Course within 90 days of employment required or documentation of current BCLS certification.
Certification in instrument processing is preferred.
Must be covid 19 vaccinated
Certification from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) is mandatory.
Recent documented experience processing surgical equipment and supplies
Able to function in a fast paced out-patient environment
