Consider joining our established team of general surgeons for our Indiana University Health Medical Group in Bedford Indiana! We are hiring an Advanced Practice Provider to join our General Surgery team in Bedford, IN. This role involves comprehensive care for surgery patients across outpatient, inpatient, ED, OR and discharge settings. The Advanced Practice Provider will work closely with board-certified surgeons to impact care continuum.
Opportunity Details:
Full Time- 40 hours/week
Monday- Friday
Day shift rotation
Call Schedule- No after hour call is required although, call is required during the business day (further discussed during interview)
Approximately 70% Inpatient and 30% Outpatient (schedule may change as need arises)
Procedures
Comfortable or desire to learn OP procedures such as wound closures, incision & drainage, biopsies, feeding tube removal, debridement etc.
First assist in the OR
Consult Services
Perform initial assessments, exams, diagnostics, and formulate care plans for trauma/acute care
Provide consults in the ED and inpatient units, collaborating with ED physicians, hospitalists and surgeons
Inpatient Floors
Manage trauma/post- surgery patients, triage surgical patients and recognize deterioration while escalating appropriately, connect rounds, adjust treatments, monitor recovery, and coordinate discharges and follow-ups.
Deliver direct care to surgical patients

Procedures as needed
Surgical follow- up
New patient visits with work up for surgical complaints

Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
Ability to triage surgical patient, recognize deterioration, and escalate appropriately
Detail oriented and able to manage fast-paced surgical services
Reliable, adaptable, punctual

Maintains calm under pressure and within rapidly changing OR schedules
Motivated by procedural work and high-acuity care
Qualifications:
FNP, ACNP or PA certification (board eligible/certified required)
Minimum 5 years acute/trauma/critical/emergency nursing; robust surgical rotations required for PA's; critical care rotations preferred
Surgical APP experience in an inpatient, OR, or perioperative setting is highly preferred
