Fairview Health Services is looking for a Senior Intake Financial Counselor based out of the Fairview Ambulatory Care Center in Maple Grove, MN. This position is approved for 80 hours every two weeks and is benefit eligible.
The Maple Grove Medical Center Senior Financial Counselors role in the admission financial process is to financially secure exception patients by managing the community care process, assisting patients in applying for government insurance products, making individual contractual arrangements won non-contracted out of state MA providers, setting up payment arrangements with patients and gathering all necessary information to facilitate the charity care escalation process. They coordinate all financial issues with the patient, the insurer, the physician, and other stakeholders as a member of the financial counselor team. They are also responsible for responding to and investigating patient and family members concerns and complaints and resolves potential and actual claims.
Obtaining prior authorizations, supplying quotes for non-covered services
Work with patients who express difficulty in paying and inform patients of options for financial assistance
Contact third party payor to verify insurance eligibility
Screen patients and process applications for MA and other public assistance programs as follows
Ensure all patients screened are reviewed for all appropriate external assistance programs and that they are properly instructed and educated on completing the application process.
Screen and qualify patients for Community Care using the established guidelines and ensure patients are properly instructed and educated on completing the application process.
Serve as a liaison for patients, family members and others promoting positive teamwork, patient satisfaction and community relations
Respond to all customer concerns and inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Self manages daily processing workload and prioritizes patient accounts to accurately complete work in a timely, efficient manner to prevent service delays and payment issues.
3 plus years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle (i.e., registration, billing, etc) setting.
Admitting or billing experience with third party payers in a multi-faceted healthcare organization
Strong knowledge of computer systems
Knowledge of PASS system preferred
Prior experience working with county programs or charity care programs.
Prior experience with registration or Patient Access functions
